Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide)

Laughing Gas, also known as Nitrous Oxide (N2O), is a mild form of sedation that helps patients feel relaxed and at ease during their dental procedures. It’s inhaled through a small mask placed over the nose and begins working within minutes, creating a sense of calm and sometimes a light, euphoric feeling.

• Benefits: Laughing Gas wears off quickly, so patients can drive home after the procedure without needing an escort.
• How it works: The gas induces a state of relaxation while allowing the patient to stay awake and responsive throughout the procedure. Once the mask is removed, the effects dissipate almost immediately.

Conscious Sedation

For patients who need more than mild relaxation but want to remain awake and aware during their treatment, Conscious Sedation is an excellent option. Conscious sedation involves taking a prescribed sedative pill before the appointment, helping patients feel calm and significantly reducing anxiety.

• Ideal for: Patients with moderate dental anxiety, those undergoing longer procedures, or those with a strong gag reflex.
• Benefits: Patients are awake but deeply relaxed, with limited memory of the procedure. This type of sedation helps ease discomfort and anxiety while still allowing communication with the dentist.
• How it works: After taking the sedative, the patient enters a deeply relaxed state but stays conscious. The effect typically lasts for a few hours, so it’s recommended that patients arrange for someone to drive them home after their appointment.

IV Sedation

IV Sedation is the deepest level of sedation available at Drip Dental Studio, ideal for patients undergoing complex procedures or those with severe dental anxiety. The sedative is administered directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous line, allowing the dentist to control the level of sedation throughout the procedure.

• Ideal for: Patients with severe dental anxiety, those undergoing extensive procedures like dental implants, or those who prefer to be unaware of the treatment.
• Benefits: IV sedation provides a deeper level of relaxation compared to other methods, often making patients feel as if they slept through the entire procedure. The level of sedation can be adjusted in real-time, ensuring the patient’s safety and comfort.
• How it works: The sedative is administered through an IV, and its effects are felt quickly. Patients may not remember much of the procedure afterward, and post-procedure grogginess is common, so transportation arrangements will be required.
